RESUMO

For bridges with high automobile traffic, a large amount of vibration is generated daily due to cars driving over imperfectly level roads, and a vibration energy harvester can convert this energy into electrical energy, thus providing energy for devices such as bridge health sensors. However, the traditional single degree of freedom magnetic levitation vibration energy harvester (SMEH) has the disadvantage of low output power, so this research designs an improved dual degree of freedom magnetic levitation vibration energy harvester (DMEH), and a mathematical model of the energy harvester is built for simulation tests and an optimization model based on NSGA-II algorithm is developed for optimizing the structural parameters of the energy harvester. The experimental results show that the maximum total output power of DMEH and SMEH on CSSBB1, CSSBB2 and CSSBB3 are 48.7 mW, 36.8 mW, 25.4 mW and 27.2 mW, 21.5 mW, 14.9 mW, respectively, and the minimum total magnet volumes of both on CSSBB1, CSSBB2 and CSSBB3 are 268 cm3, 132 cm3, 219 cm3, 214 cm3, 86.2 cm3, 156 cm3. Based on the experimental data, it is found that the maximum output power of the optimal solution of DMEH is larger than that of SMEH for the selected simply supported girder bridge project, and the volume of the former is also larger than that of the latter, but the degree of increase can still be adapted to the application environment. The research results have some reference significance for improving the energy harvesting efficiency of bridge vibration energy harvesters.

To explore the formation mechanism of the ozone (O3) and emission reduction strategy in a northwestern city, an extensive field campaign was conducted in summertime in 2021 in Yining City, in which the 0-D box model incorporating the latest explicit chemical mechanism (MCMv3.3.1) was applied for the first time to quantify the O3-NOx-VOCs sensitivity and formulate a precise O3 control strategy in this city. The results showed that: ① the three indicators ï¼»i.e., O3 formation potential (OFP), ·OH reaction rate (k·OH), and relative incremental reactivity (RIR)] jointly indicated that alkenes, oxygenated volatile organic compounds (OVOCs), and aromatics were the highest contributors among anthropogenic volatile organic compounds (AVOC) to O3 formation, and the contribution of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOC) also could not be ignored. Additionally, the results based on RIR calculation implied that that the acetaldehyde, ethylene, and propylene were the most sensitive individual VOCs species in Yining City. ② The in-situ photochemical O3 variations were primarily influenced by the local photochemical production and export process horizontally to downwind areas or vertically to the upper layer, and the reaction pathways of HO2·+ NO and ·OH + NO2 contributed the most to the gross Ox photochemical production (60%) and photochemical destruction production (53%), respectively. Hence, the reduction in local emissions for O3 precursors was more essential to alleviate O3 pollution in this city. ③ The outcome based on RIR(NOx) / RIR(AVOC) and EKMA jointly suggested that the photochemical regime in this city can be considered a transitional regime that was also nearly a VOCs-limited regime. Detailed mechanism modeling based on multiple scenarios further suggested that the NOx and VOCs synergic emission reduction strategies was helpful to alleviate O3 pollution. These results are useful to provide policy-related guidance for other cities facing similar O3 pollution in northwest China.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the clinical characteristics and prognosis of pneumococcal meningitis (PM), and drug sensitivity of Streptococcus pneumoniae (SP) isolates in Chinese children. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical information, laboratory data, and microbiological data of 160 hospitalized children under 15 years old with PM from January 2019 to December 2020 in 33 tertiary hospitals across the country. RESULTS: Among the 160 children with PM, there were 103 males and 57 females. The age ranged from 15 days to 15 years, with 109 cases (68.1%) aged 3 months to under 3 years. SP strains were isolated from 95 cases (59.4%) in cerebrospinal fluid cultures and from 57 cases (35.6%) in blood cultures. The positive rates of SP detection by cerebrospinal fluid metagenomic next-generation sequencing and cerebrospinal fluid SP antigen testing were 40% (35/87) and 27% (21/78), respectively. Fifty-five cases (34.4%) had one or more risk factors for purulent meningitis, 113 cases (70.6%) had one or more extra-cranial infectious foci, and 18 cases (11.3%) had underlying diseases. The most common clinical symptoms were fever (147 cases, 91.9%), followed by lethargy (98 cases, 61.3%) and vomiting (61 cases, 38.1%). Sixty-nine cases (43.1%) experienced intracranial complications during hospitalization, with subdural effusion and/or empyema being the most common complication [43 cases (26.9%)], followed by hydrocephalus in 24 cases (15.0%), brain abscess in 23 cases (14.4%), and cerebral hemorrhage in 8 cases (5.0%). Subdural effusion and/or empyema and hydrocephalus mainly occurred in children under 1 year old, with rates of 91% (39/43) and 83% (20/24), respectively. SP strains exhibited complete sensitivity to vancomycin (100%, 75/75), linezolid (100%, 56/56), and meropenem (100%, 6/6). High sensitivity rates were also observed for levofloxacin (81%, 22/27), moxifloxacin (82%, 14/17), rifampicin (96%, 25/26), and chloramphenicol (91%, 21/23). However, low sensitivity rates were found for penicillin (16%, 11/68) and clindamycin (6%, 1/17), and SP strains were completely resistant to erythromycin (100%, 31/31). The rates of discharge with cure and improvement were 22.5% (36/160) and 66.2% (106/160), respectively, while 18 cases (11.3%) had adverse outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: Pediatric PM is more common in children aged 3 months to under 3 years. Intracranial complications are more frequently observed in children under 1 year old. Fever is the most common clinical manifestation of PM, and subdural effusion/emphysema and hydrocephalus are the most frequent complications. Non-culture detection methods for cerebrospinal fluid can improve pathogen detection rates. Adverse outcomes can be noted in more than 10% of PM cases. SP strains are high sensitivity to vancomycin, linezolid, meropenem, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, rifampicin, and chloramphenicol.

Pancreatic cancer, one of the most aggressive malignancies, has no effective treatment due to the lack of targets and drugs related to tumour metastasis. SIRT6 can promote the migration of pancreatic cancer and could be a potential target for antimetastasis of pancreatic cancer. However, highly selective and potency SIRT6 inhibitor that can be used in vivo is yet to be discovered. Here, we developed a novel SIRT6 allosteric inhibitor, compound 11e, with maximal inhibitory potency and an IC50 value of 0.98 ± 0.13 µmol/L. Moreover, compound 11e exhibited significant selectivity against other histone deacetylases (HADC1‒11 and SIRT1‒3) at concentrations up to 100 µmol/L. The allosteric site and the molecular mechanism of inhibition were extensively elucidated by cocrystal complex structure and dynamic structural analyses. Importantly, we confirmed the antimetastatic function of such inhibitors in four pancreatic cancer cell lines as well as in two mouse models of pancreatic cancer liver metastasis. To our knowledge, this is the first study to reveal the in vivo effects of SIRT6 inhibitors on liver metastatic pancreatic cancer. It not only provides a promising lead compound for subsequent inhibitor development targeting SIRT6 but also provides a potential approach to address the challenge of metastasis in pancreatic cancer.

OBJECTIVES: The present study aimed to systematically review the studies comparing the accuracy of intraoral scan (IOS) and conventional implant impressions (CI) in completely edentulous patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Electronic searches were performed in PubMed, Embase and Cochrane CENTRAL up to December 1, 2023. Clinical studies and in vitro studies reporting the accuracy of digital full arch impressions were included. The primary outcome is the 3-dimensional deviations between the study reference models. A risk of bias assessment was performed for clinical studies. A stratified meta-analysis and a single-armed meta-analysis were conducted. RESULTS: A total of 49 studies were included, with 8 clinical studies and 41 in vitro studies. For comparison between IOS and conventional impressions, studies were categorized into two groups based on the different measurement methods employed: RMS and CMM. In studies using RMS, the result favored the IOS in the unparalleled situation with the mean difference of -99.29 µm (95% CI: [-141.38, -57.19], I2 = 81%), while the result was opposite with the mean difference of 13.62 µm (95% CI: [10.97, 16.28], I2 = 26%) when implants were paralleled. For different brands of IOS, the accuracy ranged from 76.11 µm (95% CI: [42.36, 109.86]) to 158.63 µm (95% CI: [-14.68, 331.93]). CONCLUSIONS: Accuracy of intraoral scan is clinically acceptable in edentulous arches, especially for unparalleled implants. More clinical studies are needed to verify the present finding.

Chronic wound healing impairment is a significant complication in diabetes. Hydrogels that maintain wound moisture and enable sustained drug release have become prominent for enhancing chronic wound care. Particularly, hydrogels that respond to reactive oxygen species (ROS) are sought-after for their dual capacity to mitigate ROS and facilitate controlled drug delivery at the wound site. We have strategically designed an ROS-responsive and scavenging supramolecular hydrogel composed of the simple hexapeptide Glu-Phe-Met-Phe-Met-Glu (EFM). This hydrogelator, composed solely of canonical amino acids without additional ROS-sensitive motifs, forms a hydrogel rapidly upon sonication. Interaction with ROS leads to the oxidation of Met residues to methionine sulfoxide, triggering hydrogel disassembly and consequent payload release. Cellular assays have verified their biocompatibility and efficacy in promoting cell proliferation and migration. In vivo investigations underscore the potential of this straightforward hydrogel as an ROS-scavenger and drug delivery vehicle, enhancing wound healing in diabetic mice. The simplicity and effectiveness of this hydrogel suggest its broader biomedical applications in the future.

Monochlorodifluoromethane (HCFC-22) has been identified as a significant contributor to the depletion of the Earth's ozone layer, garnering considerable attention within the scientific community. Consequently, the investigation of Freon degradation has become a central focus of current research efforts. In this study, we opted to employ catalytic hydrolysis as it offers numerous advantages for the degradation of HCFC-22. Specifically, we prepared ZnO/ZrO2 catalysts with hexahedral rod-like structures through citric acid complexation. We examined the impact of various preparation conditions (such as the molar ratio of ZnO to ZrO2, calcination temperature, and calcination time) as well as catalytic hydrolysis conditions (including the amount of catalyst, total flow rate, and catalytic hydrolysis temperature) on the hydrolysis rate of HCFC-22. Characterization of the catalysts was performed using techniques such as XRD, SEM, EDS, TG-DTG, FTIR, N2 adsorption-desorption, CO2-TPD, and NH3-TPD. Our experimental findings revealed the optimal preparation conditions: a catalytic hydrolysis temperature of 100 °C, a molar ratio of ZnO to ZrO2 of 0.7, a water bath temperature of 90 °C, a roasting temperature of 400 °C, and a roasting time of 4 h. At a catalytic hydrolysis temperature of 100 °C, the hydrolysis rate of HCFC-22 reached 99.81%, with the main hydrolyzed products being HCl, HF, and CO2.

Background: Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the Fibrillin-1 gene (FBN1) with significant clinical features in the skeletal, cardiopulmonary, and ocular systems. To gain deeper insights into the contribution of epigenetics in the variability of phenotypes observed in MFS, we undertook the first analysis of integrating DNA methylation and gene expression profiles in whole blood from MFS and healthy controls (HCs). Methods: The Illumina 850K (EPIC) DNA methylation array was used to detect DNA methylation changes on peripheral blood samples of seven patients with MFS and five HCs. Associations between methylation levels and clinical features of MFS were analyzed. Subsequently, we conducted an integrated analysis of the outcomes of the transcriptome data to analyze the correlation between differentially methylated positions (DMPs) and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and explore the potential role of methylation-regulated DEGs (MeDEGs) in MFS scoliosis. The weighted gene co-expression network analysis was used to find gene modules with the highest correlation coefficient with target MeDEGs to annotate their functions in MFS. Results: Our study identified 1253 DMPs annotated to 236 genes that were primarily associated with scoliosis, cardiomyopathy, and vital capacity. These conditions are typically associated with reduced lifespan in untreated MFS. We calculated correlations between DMPs and clinical features, such as cobb angle to evaluate scoliosis and FEV1% to assess pulmonary function. Notably, cg20223687 (PTPRN2) exhibited a positive correlation with cobb angle of scoliosis, potentially playing a role in ERKs inactivation. Conclusions: Taken together, our systems-level approach sheds light on the contribution of epigenetics to MFS and offers a plausible explanation for the complex phenotypes that are linked to reduced lifespan in untreated MFS patients.

Most tough hydrogels are reinforced by introducing energy dissipation mechanisms, but simultaneously realizing a high toughness and low hysteresis is challenging because the energy dissipation structure cannot recover rapidly. In this work, high mechanical performance highly entangled double network hydrogels without energy dissipation structure are fabricated, in which physical entanglements act as the primary effective crosslinking in the first network. This sliding entanglement structure allows the hydrogel network to form a highly uniform oriented structure during stretching, resulting in a high tensile strength of ~3 MPa, a fracture energy of 8340 J m-2 and a strain-stiffening capability of 47.5 in 90% water content. Moreover, almost 100% reversibility is obtained in this hydrogel via energy storage based on entropy loss. The highly entangled double network structure not only overcomes the typical trade-off between the high toughness and low hysteresis of hydrogels, but more importantly, it provides an insight into the application of entanglement structures in high-performance hydrogels.

The present work aimed to study the feasibility of Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) as an instinctive liver targeting drug delivery carrier for oridonin (ORI) in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ASP was reacted with deoxycholic acid (DOCA) via an esterification reaction to form an ASP-DOCA conjugate. ORI-loaded ASP-DOCA nanoparticles (ORI/ASP-DOCA NPs) were prepared by the thin-film water method, and their size was about 195 nm in aqueous solution. ORI/ASP-DOCA NPs had a drug loading capacity of up to 9.2%. The release of ORI in ORI/ASP-DOCA NPs was pH-dependent, resulting in rapid decomposition and accelerated drug release at acidic pH. ORI/ASP-DOCA NPs significantly enhanced the accumulation of ORI in liver tumors through ASGPR-mediated endocytosis. In vitro results showed that ORI/ASP-DOCA NPs increased cell uptake and apoptosis in HepG2 cells, and in vivo results showed that ORI/ASP-DOCA NPs caused effective tumor suppression in H22 tumor-bearing mice compared with free ORI. In short, ORI/ASP-DOCA NPs might be a simple, feasible, safe and effective ORI nano-drug delivery system that could be used for the targeted delivery and treatment of liver tumors.

Primary insomnia (PI) is an increasing concern in modern society. Cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia is the first-line recommendation, yet limited availability and cost impede its widespread use. While hypnotics are frequently used, balancing their benefits against the risk of adverse events poses challenges. This review summarizes the clinical and preclinical evidence of acupuncture as a treatment for PI, discussing its potential mechanisms and role in reliving insomnia. Clinical trials show that acupuncture improves subjective sleep quality, fatigue, cognitive impairments, and emotional symptoms with minimal adverse events. It also positively impacts objective sleep processes, including prolonging total sleep time, improving sleep efficiency, reducing sleep onset latency and wake after sleep onset, and enhancing sleep architecture/structure, including increasing N3% and REM%, and decreasing N1%. However, methodological shortcomings in some trials diminish the overall quality of evidence. Animal studies suggest that acupuncture restores circadian rhythms in sleep-deprived rodents and improves their performance in behavioral tests, possibly mediated by various clinical variables and pathways. These may involve neurotransmitters, brain-derived neurotrophic factors, inflammatory cytokines, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, gut microbiota, and other cellular events. While the existing findings support acupuncture as a promising therapeutic strategy for PI, additional high-quality trials are required to validate its benefits.

Investigating the connection between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative protein unfolding is critical to reveal the mechanisms underlying disease involving elevated ROS and protein misfolding. This could inform the development of therapeutics targeting cells based on their redox status. In this study, we developed a plasma-droplet fusion-mass spectrometry platform to rapidly assess protein resilience to ROS. This home-built system fuses ROS generated from the microplasma source with protein microdroplets from a tunable nanospray source. At the droplet-plasma intersection, ROS interact with proteins before entering the mass spectrometer for mass identification and structural characterization. Benefiting from the small-sized microdroplet with adjustable traveling velocity, the platform enables the first sub-millisecond kinetic study of ROS-induced protein unfolding, with a rate constant of approximately 1.81 ms-1. Capturing ROS-induced protein unfolding intermediates and the resultant ligand release dynamics can be extended to many more protein systems. We foresee broad applications for establishing previously undetected protein unfolding events when biologically impactful ROS are enriched in time and space with functional proteins and complexes.

Long COVID, also known as Post COVID-19 condition, is defined by the WHO as the continuation or development of new symptoms three months after the initial SARS-CoV-2 infection, with these symptoms lasting for at least two months with no other explanation. Despite many studies examining the causes and mechanisms of this disease, fewer studies have sought to understand the experience of those suffering from long COVID, or "long-haulers," This study contributes to the understanding of long-haulers (N = 14) by examining the role of agency and social support in shaping their journeys with long COVID. Drawing on a combination of interviews, questionnaires, and video diaries over a three-month period, journey mapping was used to document the participants' experiences, including symptoms, coping strategies, and lifestyle changes. Analysis of these journey maps resulted in a framework with four clusters demonstrating the importance of social support and patient agency shaping participants' Long COVID trajectory; the study contributes valuable insights into the daily lives and challenges individuals face with long COVID, informing the development of targeted support programs.

Achieving adhesion of hydrogels to universal materials with desirable strength remains a challenge despite emerging application of hydrogels. Herein we present a mussel foot protein (Mfp) inspired polyelectrolyte hydrogel of poly(ethylenimine)/poly(acrylic acid)-dopamine (PEI/PAADA) developed for universal tough adhesion. The highly-concentrated electrostatic and hydrogen-bonding interactions in PEI/PAADA hydrogel resulted in a tensile strength, strain at break, and toughness of 0.297 MPa, 2784 % and 5.440 MJ m-3, respectively. Moreover, the hydrogel can heal itself from physical damages, even can be recycled after totally dried via rehydration because of the high flexibility and reversibility of its dynamic bonds. Combining the strategies of topological stitching and direct bonding, Mfp-derived catechol and PEI/PAA backbone in PEI/PAADA corporately facilitated robust adhesion of universal materials with shear strength of up to 4.4 MPa and peeling strength of 870 J m-2, which is over 10 times greater than that of commercial fibrin gel. The adhesive also exhibited self-healing capability for at least 5 cycles, good stability in 1 M NaCl solution and characteristic debonding catalyzed by calcium. Moreover, in vitro cell behavior and in vivo wound healing assays suggested the potential of PEI/PAADA as wound dressing.

Bone adhesive is a promising candidate to revolutionize the clinical treatment of bone repairs. However, several drawbacks have limited its further clinical application, such as unreliable wet adhesive performance leading to fixation failure and poor biodegradability inhibiting bone tissue growth. By incorporating catechol groups and disulfide bonds into polyurethane (PU) molecules, an injectable and porous PU adhesive is developed with both superior wet adhesion and biodegradability to facilitate the reduction and fixation of comminuted fractures and the subsequent regeneration of bone tissue. The bone adhesive can be cured within a reasonable time acceptable to a surgeon, and then the wet bone adhesive strength is near 1.30 MPa in 1 h. Finally, the wet adhesive strength to the cortical bone will achieve about 1.70 MPa, which is also five times more than nonresorbable poly(methyl methacrylate) bone cement. Besides, the cell culture experiments also indicate that the adhesives show excellent biocompatibility and osteogenic ability in vitro. Especially, it can degrade in vivo gradually and promote fracture healing in the rabbit iliac fracture model. These results demonstrate that this ingenious bone adhesive exhibits great potential in the treatment of comminuted fractures, providing fresh insights into the development of clinically applicable bone adhesives.

INTRODUCTION: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of digitally delivered exercise classes to promote physical activity has become widespread amongst various populations as an alternative to in-person activities. OBJECTIVES: To examine the feasibility, acceptability, and participant engagement variables to delivering Qi Gong and Tai Chi programs through telehealth interventions. METHODS: Ten databases (Seven English databases; three Chinese databases) were searched between October and November 2021. Studies published in English or Chinese, or having translations in English or Chinese, were included. Titles and abstracts of identified articles were screened, relevant studies were then retrieved for full-text screening. Study selection, assessment of methodological quality, data extraction, data transformation, and data synthesis were completed following a convergent integrated approach to mixed method systematic reviews. RESULTS: Seven articles were included in review. Digital literacy of both participants and providers was found to be a significant hurdle towards digital program implementation. There were no notable issues pertaining to access to an internet connection, participant safety, program costs, or connectivity. A major theme for sustaining program engagement was found to be individual perceived relevance for intervention involvement. Online social involvement was noted to be both a facilitator for participant acceptability and engagement. Overall, participants expressed satisfaction with the use of telehealth, while providers expressed acceptability concerns regarding quality of care. CONCLUSION: It is recommended that planned measures be taken prior to program commencement to decrease digital literacy requirements while also including a participatory approach to encourage uptake. During the program, provision of technical support alongside appropriate social-environmental engagement facilitators would promote sustained adherence.

To investigate the occurrence and 90-day mortality of cancer patients following unplanned admission to the intensive care unit (ICU), as well as to develop a risk prediction model for their 90-day prognosis. We prospectively analyzed data from cancer patients who were admitted to the ICU without prior planning within the past 7 days, specifically between May 12, 2021, and July 12, 2021. The patients were grouped based on their 90-day survival status, and the aim was to identify the risk factors influencing their survival status. A total of 1488 cases were included in the study, with an average age of 63.2 ± 12.4 years. The most common reason for ICU admission was sepsis (n = 940, 63.2%). During their ICU stay, 29.7% of patients required vasoactive drug support (n = 442), 39.8% needed invasive mechanical ventilation support (n = 592), and 82 patients (5.5%) received renal replacement therapy. We conducted a multivariate COX proportional hazards model analysis, which revealed that BMI and a history of hypertension were protective factors. On the other hand, antitumor treatment within the 3 months prior to admission, transfer from the emergency department, general ward, or external hospital, high APACHE score, diagnosis of shock and respiratory failure, receiving invasive ventilation, and experiencing acute kidney injury (AKI) were identified as risk factors for poor prognosis within 90 days after ICU admission. The average length of stay in the ICU was 4 days, while the hospital stay duration was 18 days. A total of 415 patients died within 90 days after ICU admission, resulting in a mortality rate of 27.9%. We selected 8 indicators to construct the predictive model, which demonstrated good discrimination and calibration. The prognosis of cancer patients who are unplanned transferred to the ICU is generally poor. Assessing the risk factors and developing a risk prediction model for these patients can play a significant role in evaluating their prognosis.

Background: Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are used to guide decision-making, especially regarding complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies that are unfamiliar to orthodox healthcare providers. This systematic review aimed to critically review and summarise CAM recommendations associated with anxiety management included in the existing CPGs. Methods: Seven databases, websites of six international guidelines developing institutions, and the National Centre for Complementary and Integrative Health website were systematically searched. Their reporting and methodological quality were evaluated using the Reporting Items for practice Guidelines in Healthcare checklist and the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (2nd version) instrument, respectively. Results: Ten CPGs were included, with reporting rates between 51.4 and 88.6%. Seven of these were of moderate to high methodological quality. Seventeen CAM modalities were implicated, involving phytotherapeutics, mind-body practice, art therapy, and homeopathy. Applied relaxation was included in 70% CPGs, which varied in degree of support for its use in the treatment of generalised anxiety disorder. There were few recommendations for other therapies/products. Light therapy was not recommended for use in generalised anxiety disorder, and St John's wort and mindfulness were not recommended for use in social anxiety disorder in individual guidelines. Recommendations for the applicability of other therapies/products for treating a specific anxiety disorder were commonly graded as "unclear, unambiguous, or uncertain". No CAM recommendations were provided for separation anxiety disorder, specific phobia or selective mutism. Conclusion: Available guidelines are limited in providing logically explained graded CAM recommendations for anxiety treatment and care. A lack of high-quality evidence and multidisciplinary consultation during the guideline development are two major reasons. High quality and reliable clinical evidence and the engagement of a range of interdisciplinary stakeholders are needed for future CPG development and updating. Universal adhesion of hydrogels to diverse materials is essential to their extensive applications. Unfortunately, tough adhesion of wet surfaces remains an urgent challenge so far, requiring robust cohesion strength for effective stress dissipation. In this work, a dual-network hydrogel polyethylenimine-poly(acrylic acid)/alginate (PEI-PAA/Alg) with excellent mechanical strength is realized via PEI-PAA complex and calcium alginate coordination for universal adhesion by the synergistic effort of topological entanglement and catechol chemistry. The dual networks of PEI-PAA/Alg provide mechanically reinforced cohesion strength, which is sufficient for energy dissipation during adhesion with universal materials. After the integration of mussel-inspired dopamine into PAA or Alg, the adhesive demonstrates further improved adhesion performance with a solid adherend and capability to bond cancellous bones. Notably, the dopamine-modified adhesive exhibits better instant adhesion and reversibility with wet surfaces compared with commercial fibrin. Adhesion interfaces are investigated by SEM and micro-FTIR to verify the effectiveness of strategies of topological entanglement. Furthermore, the adhesive also possesses great injectability, stability, tissue adhesion, and biocompatibility. In vivo wound healing and histological analysis indicate that the hydrogel can promote wound closure, epidermis regeneration, and tissue refunctionalization, implying its potential application for bioadhesive and wound dressing.

In the case of strong background noise, a tri-stable stochastic resonance model has higher noise utilization than a bi-stable stochastic resonance (BSR) model for weak signal detection. However, the problem of severe system parameter coupling in a conventional tri-stable stochastic resonance model leads to difficulty in potential function regulation. In this paper, a new compound tri-stable stochastic resonance (CTSR) model is proposed to address this problem by combining a Gaussian Potential model and the mixed bi-stable model. The weak magnetic anomaly signal detection system consists of the CTSR system and judgment system based on statistical analysis. The system parameters are adjusted by using a quantum genetic algorithm (QGA) to optimize the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The experimental results show that the CTSR system performs better than the traditional tri-stable stochastic resonance (TTSR) system and BSR system. When the input SNR is -8 dB, the detection probability of the CTSR system approaches 80%. Moreover, this detection system not only detects the magnetic anomaly signal but also retains information on the relative motion (heading) of the ferromagnetic target and the magnetic detection device.
